On December 3, 2015 friends, family and colleagues of Stanley Hoffmann, Paul and Catherine Buttenwieser University Professor at Harvard University and founding chairman of CES, celebrated his life with personal tributes and a musical interlude. In commemoration of Hoffmann's legacy, CES dedicated one its lecture rooms in his name and inaugurated the Stanley Hoffmann Annual Lecture on France and the World.
"As scholars and as citizens working in a field in which violence, deceit, injustice, and oppression are on full display, beware of illusions, but never give up hope – by which I do not mean a faith in progress, only the modest belief that it is not impossible." - Stanley Hoffmann
This booklet includes the program of the tribute event and features memorial notes written by select colleagues and friends.
This booklet is a collection of the memorial notes that friends and colleagues from around the world send in to remember Stanley Hoffmann.
